GameStop recently released their financial results for the first quarter of the year, which saw a drop in sales when compared to the same period in 2017.
Robert Lloyd, the Financial Chief of GameStop, told investors that demand for Nintendo Switch has remained consistent and so do the demand for Switch games. What impressed him the most was how The Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild keeps selling week after week, despite launching more than a year ago.
Here are his comments on the matter:
In regards to Switch, we did very well during the launch. It was the newest thing that customers could get and that’s how it was … we sold it in the two months of the quarter when it was in the market. I think we are seeing a constant level of demand for Switch systems right now and a very constant level of demand for Switch games. When I read the weekly reports, it’s amazing how Zelda keeps going week after week, which was launched a year ago.
