GameStop, the largest video game retailer in the United States, has shared what happened during and after E3 2018.
Over the course of the week after Nintendo’s showing at E3 2018, GameStop reports that Nintendo Switch sales doubled. The company says Super Smash Bros. Ultimate and Pokemon Let’s GO Pikachu/Eevee have received a lot of attention.
Another product that is garnering lots of interest is the Poke Ball Plus, a controller releasing alongside Pokemon Let’s GO Pikachu/Eevee this November.
In regards to game releases in the future, GameStop expects more publishers to move away from releasing their games in November and more toward releasing them in September and October. This will enable them to do deeper discounts on Black Friday.
The company also expects more titles to release in the period between April and August, given how well games are doing outside traditional launch windows. However, it might take a few years for that to change.
