GameShare is a new feature that allows you to play select multiplayer titles with your friends online and or via local wireless on Nintendo Switch 2 with just one copy of the game.
In this guide, we will explain how GameShare works and what kind of games are compatible with it.
GameShare is similar to DS Download Play, where multiple players can enjoy the same game together on their own respective Nintendo DS systems.
Only one person needs to own the game; the other players don’t need their own copy of the game to play.
GameShare works by streaming gameplay from the source system to target system(s) through local wireless or online via GameChat.
You can share a GameShare-compatible game with other players through local wireless or online via GameChat.
You need a Nintendo Switch 2 system in order to share games. You can receive select Nintendo Switch 2 games even on a Nintendo Switch system.
Local wireless
Online via GameChat
Please keep in mind that GameChat requires an active Nintendo Switch Online subscription after the trial period ends on March 31, 2026.
Multiple first-party and third-party Nintendo Switch 2 and Nintendo Switch games are compatible with GameShare. However, not all games support online play via GameChat.
GameShare support is dependent on the publisher of the title. Select Nintendo Switch titles may be updated to support GameShare over time.
As of April 28, 2025, the following games support GameShare. Titles that do not support GameChat via GameShare (online) will have be labeled with [no online support] behind their title:
