Mario Kart World contains a huge variety of vehicles to use. In this guide, we will share with you the types of vehicles available, how to unlock them, and what’s available to use.
There are three types of vehicles available in Mario Kart World – kart, bike, and ATV.
Although there are three different vehicle types, the controls for all three types are the same.
Keep in mind that in Mario Kart World, you cannot customize the glider, body, and wheels of your vehicle just like in Mario Kart 8 Deluxe – you can only choose one entire vehicle.
In Mario Kart World, every vehicle has four visible stats – Speed, Acceleration, Weight, and Handling.
In past Mario Kart titles, stats such as speed and acceleration have been prioritized by competitive players as they offer larger miniturbo boosts from drifting and better recovery after getting hit by items or obstacles. This philosophy should still apply in Mario Kart World.
You can check the vehicle’s overall stats when selecting a vehicle on the vehicle selection screen.
You can unlock new vehicles by collecting coins in races and Free Roam. You can collect up to 20 coins per race.
A new vehicle is randomly unlocked at every 100 coins. This means that you’ll need about 2,800 to 3,100 coins to unlock every kart in the game.
As of June 5, 2025, 40 vehicles have been confirmed for Mario Kart World. Out of the 40 vehicles, 23 are karts, 11 are bikes, and 6 are ATVs. A small selection of vehicles (6 karts, 4 bikes, and 1 ATV) are unlocked from the start of the game.
