Guide: How To Wall Ride And Rail Ride In Mario Kart World
In Mario Kart World, two new tricks are being added for the first time – wall riding and rail riding.
If you want to become good at Mario Kart World, you have to master both of these tricks, and we will show you how in this guide.
The Basics
The most important thing you need to know is that if you want to wall ride and rail ride, you must first drive toward a wall or rail. You shouldn’t be too far away from it.
That’s of course just one part of the equation. Just driving toward to a wall or rail doesn’t mean you can ride on it. Let’s take a look at the ways you can trigger them.
Jump Boost
Perform a jump boost by tricking off a ramp or the edge of a surface (by pressing the drift button) toward a wall or rail in order to start riding on it. The key thing to getting this right is ensuring your vehicle is in mid air just as it reaches the wall or rail. Otherwise, it’ll fail.
Watch the video below for a demonstration:
Charge Jump
Hold the drift button while accelerating on a straight road, and after sparks start appearing beneath your wheels, let go when you want to jump. Perform the jump when you’re closing in on the wall or rail. The key thing to getting this right is ensuring your vehicle is in mid air just as it reaches the wall or rail. Otherwise, it’ll fail.
Feather
You can use the feather item to perform a jump. You can jump much higher by using a feather than performing a jump boost or charge jump. The key thing to getting this right is ensuring your vehicle is in mid air just as it reaches the wall or rail. Otherwise, it’ll fail.
Try practicing in Free Roam
You can try practicing wall riding and rail riding in Free Roam at any point of time. There are also P-Switch missions that require you to perform these tricks, so give them a try if you’re struggling.
Why Wall Riding and Rail Riding are important
Wall riding and rail riding can help you gain access to shortcuts, dodge obstacles and other players, and give you a speed boost as compared to just driving on a straight road. Mastering wall riding and rail riding are important as it’ll help you maintain your momentum in the race especially when you are in first place.
