The developers behind the Evercade have released the first official trailer for their upcoming retro-hybrid console.
While the trailer still only shows a 3D mockup of the console, it does give us a look at its packaging and more footage of games being played. Most importantly however, we finally see how it hooks up to the TV for “docked” gameplay. Unlike the Switch, it seems that players connect the Evercade to the TV directly with an extremely long HDMI cable.
Check it out for yourself below:
While the Evercade‘s method of “docking” sounds like an elegant solution on paper, it seems like it could be quite cumbersome in practice. That said, since the video still only shows a mockup of the product, we’ll have to wait and see if the actual machine will be able to pull off the concept when it comes out.
The Evercade currently does not have a set release date, but is set to launch in Q4 2019.
