On November 19, 2006, Wii Sports was released in North America for Wii as a pack-in title.
The game, which featured 5 mini games, introduced casual gamers and hardcore gamers to the world of motion controls. It helped to propel the Wii to insane heights and shortages from 2006 to 2008, and garnered huge media attention as Wii Sports was used in schools, hospitals, and nursing homes for the elderly.
Wii Sports sold 82.88 million units worldwide as of September 30, 2019. It’s the bestselling Nintendo hardware game and Wii game in the world.
