On February 27, 1996, the Pokemon franchise was born after the launch of Pokemon Red and Pokemon Green on Game Boy.
In the span of 23 years, the Pokemon brand has become one of the largest and most valuable brands in the world. Nintendo, Game Freak, and Creatures Inc. pooled their resources and talents together to quickly develop Pokemon into a brand not just known for video games, but with the Trading Card Game, anime, manga, merchandise, and more.
As we celebrate the 23rd anniversary of Pokemon, we are about to learn about its future on Nintendo Switch during the Pokemon Direct on February 27, 2019. Let’s hope Pokemon continues to stay around for the next 23 years and continue to bring us and our children fun and happiness.
