In the recent trailer for Pokemon Brilliant Diamond And Shining Pearl, HMs were revealed to be returning to the game with some important changes.
Hidden Moves (HMs) are special moves that allow Pokemon to clear away obstacles on the overworld. While previous games often required players to teach them to their own Pokemon, Pokemon Brilliant Diamond And Shining Pearl allow players to use them via the Hidden Moves app on the Poketch. The app allows players to call upon wild Pokemon to use the Hidden Moves for them, instead of needing to use up move slots on their own Pokemon.
You can check out some screenshots of the feature in action below:
Hidden Moves
The Pokétch allows you to call on wild Pokémon to help you out. They’ll use hidden moves like Cut to chop down trees that block your way, or Rock Climb to scale steep cliffs. The Hidden Moves app makes it possible for you to go places you could never reach on your own.
Cut
Are small trees blocking your way?
The hidden move Cut can chop them down!
Rock Climb
Some cliffs are too steep to climb on foot.
The hidden move Rock Climb lets you scale them!
Surf
You can even move across water with ease!
Interestingly, The Pokemon Company has chosen to show off this feature using Bidoof and Bibarel, which were Pokemon commonly used by players in Pokemon Diamond/Pearl to carry HMs, being capable of learning six out of the eight HMs used in those games.
Pokemon Brilliant Diamond/Shining Pearl launch November 19th for Switch.
