Nintendo has shared the full details for Star Fox‘s amiibo functionality.

Players who own the Super Smash Bros. amiibo for Fox, Falco, and Wolf can use them to unlock exclusive backgrounds and other elements for the Battle Banner that is displayed during online matches. At the time of this writing, it is not known if other non-Star Fox amiibo characters have similar functionality, or what specific elements they unlock.
