An error message will appear when you try to redeem a Switch 2 download code on the Switch eShop, telling you to redeem it on a Nintendo Switch 2 instead:
“This is a Nintendo Switch 2 download code. It can be used in Nintendo eShop on a Nintendo Switch 2 console.”
This shouldn’t come as a surprise as you can’t play Nintendo Switch 2 content on Nintendo Switch.
