As you all know, there has been a lot of political turmoil in Hong Kong, and this turmoil has now spilled over to Nintendo.
Hong Kong gamers are demanding Nintendo to stop advertising on the TV network called TVB. The reason why is because TVB is seen as “red media”, or rather, a pro-Beijing (China) company, and they are not happy with any company that advertises with TVB.
These gamers have spammed dozens of Facebook posts to display their displeasure with Nintendo, and have threatened to boycott or are boycotting Nintendo because of their actions:
Some Hong Kong Pokemon fans have also taken this opportunity to air their grievances about the official Pokemon names in Traditional Chinese. A few years ago, The Pokemon Company decided to standardize Traditional Chinese Pokemon names in both Hong Kong and Taiwanese, with most names following the Taiwanese version.
What do you think? Let us know in the comments.
