Nintendo has a habit of looking back at products they’ve made decades ago for inspiration of new products. One example is the two screen handheld Game & Watch (Donkey Kong), which brought about the Nintendo DS, and another was the Virtual Boy, which became an inspiration for the Nintendo 3DS.
Back in the 1970s, Nintendo manufactured a set of papercraft products called Nintendo Paper Model where children of all ages could create cars, houses, animals, trains, and many other detailed objects by simply folding and cutting out pieces of paper.
The Nintendo Paper Model could have been an inspiration for Nintendo Labo, where children in 2018 could craft different objects and interact with them in various ways thanks to the power of Nintendo Switch.
