Following the release of the third film last month, the Sonic The Hedgehog film franchise has crossed a major earnings milestone.
According to Box Office Mojo, all three films have crossed a combined total of $1 Billion at the global box office. Sonic The Hedgehog 3 on its own is already close to reaching $300,000 worldwide, coming close to surpassing the original film.
This success is likely only possible due to the initial backlash and subsequent changes to Sonic’s design for the original movie, which set the film franchise on a path to remain closer to the source material. With a fourth film already in the works, only time will tell whether it will keep up this momentum moving forward.
