Media Create has published the latest round of video game sales data in Japan for the week of January 21 to January 27, 2019.
As expected, Kingdom Hearts III and Resident Evil 2 (both on PS4) were the No. 1 and No. 2 bestsellers last week. New Super Mario Bros. U Deluxe was last week’s bestselling Nintendo Switch game at No. 3, moving 57,725 copies. Lifetime sales are now at 312,869.
Super Smash Bros. Ultimate continues to sell strongly (No. 4, 38,478) along with other evergreen Nintendo Switch titles (Super Mario Odyssey, Mario Kart 8 Deluxe, Pokemon Let’s GO Pikachu/Eevee, Minecraft, Splatoon 2).
Due to the launch of Kingdom Hearts III, PS4 Pro and PS4 sales saw a drastic increase last week, moving 33,032 and 19,612 systems respectively. This reduced the market share of the Switch to 46.9%, which is something we rarely saw in the last couple of months. Switch console sales were 52,429 units last week.
