Media Create has published their video game sales data for the Japanese market for the period between January 7 and January 13, 2019.
The bestselling game of the week of January 7 is none other than New Super Mario Bros. U Deluxe, which moved 166,303 copies at launch. Coming in at No. 2 is Super Smash Bros. Ultimate at 62,580 units.
Tales of Vesperia: Definitive Edition launched on PS4 and Switch the same week, with the PS4 version selling 41,510 copies (No. 3) and the Switch version moving 26,588 copies (No. 4). Turns out the PS4 version is more popular than the Switch version in Japan, contrary to what’s happening in the United Kingdom.
Dragon Quest Builders 2 is close to hitting 200,000 copies sold in its lifetime on Switch. The game moved 19,565 units (No. 5) last week, bumping its total to 199,003.
Last but not least, Nintendo Switch hardware sales reduced to 78,056 systems last week as the holiday season has ended. Market share is a strong 75.2%.
