A financial analyst in Japan, Pricing Studio CEO Yoshihiro Takahashi, believes that Nintendo will eventually drop the price of Nintendo Switch 2 to capture larger market share.
He explained that Nintendo is currently selling at a higher price at launch to hardcore and loyal fans that are willing to pay anything. Takahashi argues that this allows the company to secure “maximum profits” at launch and gradually drop the price of the Switch 2 to reach casual customers.
Pricing the Switch 2 at a higher price also serves another purpose – it wouldn’t hurt the Nintendo brand among those who just bought a Nintendo Switch or Nintendo Switch OLED model. This will, in turn, give the impression that Nintendo Switch 2 is another type of “premium product” with higher specs, allowing Nintendo to satisfy current users and acquire new users.
