Tsutaya, a Japanese retailer with over 1000 store locations across Japan, has revealed some interesting details on the sale of Nintendo Switch Online prepaid cards.
In Japan, there are multiple ways of purchasing a Nintendo Switch Online subscription, and one of them is by purchasing a prepaid card at a retailer or convenience store. Prepaid cards are offered in 3 month and 12 month individual plans.
Tsutaya says Nintendo Switch Online prepaid cards have been “selling extremely well” at all of their stores, and the 12 month plan has the largest demand. Tsutaya speculated the reason why the 12 month plan is more popular is because of Super Smash Bros. Ultimate – it wouldn’t make sense to buy a 3 month plan at this time and have it expire close to the game’s launch on December 7.
Besides Japan, Nintendo Switch Online is performing well at places such as Amazon in the United States.
