In 2017, Nintendo told the press that they have plans to continue supporting the Nintendo 3DS beyond 2018.
Nintendo President Tatsumi Kimishima has reiterated this point in a recent interview with the Kyoto Shimbun. Kimishima said Nintendo will continue to support the 3DS in the future, and that both 3DS hardware and software have been selling on track with internal sales projections.
The Nintendo 3DS will be turning 7 in March 2018.
