Just a few days after release, Kingdom: New Lands Developers, Noio, has said that they will be updating the game’s minimalistic icon on the Nintendo Switch home Screen.
In a Reddit AMA (link), game developer, RawFuryHamza, confirmed that they will be updating it with one of their keyart images. This is not the first time Nintendo Switch gamers have been up in arms against home screen icons, with the previous casualty, Lego Worlds, being one of them. Personally, I have no objections against minimalist icons, but we’ll like to know how you feel in the comments below.

I think at this point Nintendo should send a note of feedback to the Switch software development team that many people like to choose their game logo icons. It would be great if it would be possible if devs had the option to let people choose from a few icons.
In the regard of icons, I do care very much. Stupid as it may sound, I find it important to have a neat desktop - and as far as it goes for the Switch, icons are currently the only “design” you can add. Not change.
In my case, for indie games, I’ve deleted them upon completion as it muck my eyes to look at a dull icon.
Currently I’m annoyed with Skyrim’s logo on the desktop - it’s so boring. It sinply ruins the lot, and to mention the effort other game developers put into the design(s).
