Pokemon fans in mainland China were shocked and angry to find a knockoff Pokemon game advertised on the starting screen of the Weibo smartphone app.
For those of you who are unfamiliar with Weibo, it’s the largest social media network in China, the Chinese equivalent of Facebook and Twitter. Everytime someone starts the Weibo app, they will see an advertisement, and this knockoff Pokemon advertisement happened to appear:
Hopefully Weibo will take down the copyright infringing advertisement as soon as possible, and probably work with Netease to advertise Pokemon Quest instead.
