During Koei Tecmo’s latest financial briefing, the company provided investors and the press more details on how the Nintendo Switch has been a successful platform in terms of sales.
In Japan, Koei Tecmo has so far released Nights of Azure 2 and Fire Emblem Warriors. It is planning to bring three more Warriors themed games to Nintendo Switch next month and Attack on Titan 2 in March 2018.
Keiko Erikawa, company president of Koei Tecmo, told investors that repeat orders (orders for games after launch) have been flowing in non-stop for Nintendo Switch titles. She adds that the Nintendo Switch business is an “extremely long tail” one, and Koei Tecmo is “extremely happy” with the results.
Erikawa believes Nintendo Switch hardware will continue to sell well as there are people who are still unable to obtain one.
Moving forward, Erikawa says Koei Tecmo would like to make Nintendo Switch titles that multiple people are able to enjoy together. As the Nintendo Switch took care of the Wii U’s weakness and is a “piece of game-changing hardware of the times”, Koei Tecmo has dedicated manpower to developing Switch titles even before its launch.
