This year marks the Castlevania franchise’s 35th Anniversary, and publisher Konami has announced a somewhat unusual event to celebrate the occasion.
The publisher has announced an NFT (Non-Fungible Token) auction titled “The KONAMI MEMORIAL NFT collection“, which features “14 unique artworks from the Castlevania series”, including “game scenes, background music (BGM), and newly drawn visuals from across the series history”.
The collection will be auctioned off on the NFT trading platform OpenSea at the following timings:
- (US East) Jan.12 17:00 – Jan.14 21:00 EST
- (US West) Jan.12 14:00 – Jan.14 18:00 PST
- (UK) Jan.12 22:00 – Jan.15 02:00 GMT
- (Japan) Jan.13 07:00 – Jan.15 11:00 JST
According to the official website, successful bidders will also be entitled to have their nickname listed as the first purchaser of the NFT, but only between mid February and December 31st 2022.
Konami has also stated that will be continuing to “explore new developments and listen to player feedback following this initial collection”, suggesting that there may be more NFT collections on the way in the future.
