Konami Earns Over $162,000 From Castlevania NFT Auction

Last week, Konami announced they would be auctioning off some Castlevania themed NFTs (Non-Fungible Tokens) as part of a celebration of the series’ 35th anniversary.

The auction has since been closed, and according to VGC, Konmai earned about $162,000 from the collection. Each piece sold for about $12,000 on average, with the highest selling piece being an pixelart map of Dracula’s Castle from the original Castlevania game, which sold for $26,538.96.

Other notable items included:

  • A 3-minute highlights video edited from various Castlevania gameplay, was sold for $17,518.
  • An artwork of popular series entry Circle of the Moon also sold for over $17,000.

Konami reportedly stands to earn even more money from these NFTs, as the publisher will earn up to 10% in royalties each time the NFT is traded in the future. Whether or not Konami will eventually move on to selling NFTs for its other properties remains to be seen.
