Today we have an unfortunate piece of news to share with those of you who regularly listen to extended Nintendo music on Youtube.
BrawlBRSTMs3 X, one of the most popular Youtube channels providing extended versions of Nintendo video game music since 2010, has announced they are taking down all Nintendo music with immediate effect.
Although the Youtube channel does not monetize their channel to earn revenue from advertisements, they were hit by copyright blocks for music uploaded from games old and new. BrawlBRSTMs3 X treats the copyright blocks as a “fair warning” and will no longer have anything to do with Nintendo music on their channel.
Some are unhappy over Nintendo’s decision to block music on Youtube, as they argue it’s extremely hard to purchase music through official means in the first place. A huge swathe of video game music created by Nintendo is not available through sales channels such as iTunes and Spotify, so hopefully that will change in the future.
