Ever since the release of version update 6.0.0., Nintendo Switch owners all over Japan have observation a new limitation to their Internet connection’s upload speed on Nintendo Switch.
Multiple users on Twitter and other sites have confirmed that the upload speed of the system has been limited to a maximum of 8mbps. It’s impossible for the Switch to go over the 8mbps upload speed limit.
While the upload speed has been limited, there appears to be no cap imposed on the download speed. It also appears that the upload speed limit affects both Wi-Fi and wired LAN connections.
Nintendo has not currently announced anything about this upload speed limit, but we’ll keep an eye in the event the company makes a comment.
We have to keep in mind that 8mbps is more that sufficient for online play, so this shouldn’t be a huge problem for most players.
