As reported previously, the LEGO Ideas initiative allows regular folks to submit their proposed designs for LEGO sets – which then stand a chance of being officially greenlit and produced as an official LEGO product.
As reported previously, four set proposals for Metroid, The Legend of Zelda, Animal Crossing, and Among Us LEGO sets had garnered enough votes from the community to be considered by LEGO. However, the company revealed today that it officially rejected all these proposals in its First 2021 LEGO Ideas Set Review – opting instead to produce sets inspired by jazz bands and TV sitcom The Office.
Sadly, this means that Nintendo fans will only be able to enjoy LEGO Super Mario sets for now. We can only hope that LEGO and Nintendo eventually consider adapting other Nintendo franchises into brick form.
We’ll report back if we hear more in the future. Stay tuned.
