Mario Kart And Super Mario Trademarked In Japan

Nintendo has registered three trademarks in Japan, and all of them have got to do with the popular Mario franchise.

Mario Kart was trademarked for the purposes of video games, smartphone applications, food, toys, and merchandise. Super Mario covers merchandise and food, while Super Mario Bros. applies to video games, smartphone applications, food, toys, and merchandise.

We can safely assume Mario Kart was trademarked in anticipation of Mario Kart Tour’s upcoming release, while Super Mario Bros. (the original NES game) could be for official merchandise.
