Last September, Nintendo announced the main cast of Illumination’s Super Mario movie, which includes Chris Pratt as the voice of Mario and Charlie Day as his brother Luigi.
Although perhaps not as well-known as Chris Pratt, Charlie Day is an accomplished actor and comedian, perhaps best known for his role as Charlie Kelly from It’s Always Sunny In Philadelphia as well as Benny the Spaceman from The Lego Movie.
Following his casting as Luigi for the Mario movie, Comicbook.com has already reached out to Day to ask if he might be interested in starring in a Luigi’s Mansion spin-off, even though we have yet to see any footage of Day’s take on the character.
In his response, Day seemed quite enthusiastic about the possibility, although it seems it will depend on whether he’s invited back after the first film.
“Yeah, my son was just playing Luigi’s Mansion the other day on his Switch. Look, I’m thrilled to get the opportunity, I grew up playing Super Mario Brothers as did everyone I know so, we’ll see! It’s like anything else in life, I’ll go if I’m invited!”
