Nintendo’s latest Mario Tennis instalment, Mario Tennis Aces on the Nintendo Switch, is shaping out to be more than just a great Mario Tennis title. Mario Tennis Aces is the fastest selling Mario Tennis title ever.
Speaking at Nintendo’s Q2 2018/19 Financial Brief, Nintendo President, Shuntaro Furukawa, showed a chart of Mario Tennis Aces sell-through rate for the first 17-weeks and Mario Tennis Aces has more than comfortable taken the lead as the fastest selling Mario Tennis game. In fact, Furukawa predicts that Mario Tennis Aces will be an evergreen title for the Nintendo Switch, continuing to sell well even as the game ages.
This chart compares the sell-through up to the present time for Mario Tennis Aces with the sell-through of past titles in the series for the same period of time after their releases. This title made an impressive showing with even greater momentum than past titles in the series. When a new title like this is a hit that becomes an evergreen title, it rounds out our software lineup and helps to further stabilize the foundation of our business.
