If you’ve ever dreamed of working at Nintendo and are a big gaming fan, you may have to work harder than others in achieving your dream.
Speaking to the New York Times, legendary game designer and creator of Mario and Link, Shigeru Miyamoto, told the paper that he’s looking for game designers who aren’t “super-passionate game fans”.
Miyamoto says he wants to make it a point they aren’t “just a gamer”, but someone with “a lot of different interests and skill sets”. That way, these developers are more likely to create new types of gameplay, rather than make “perfect current ones”.

I find it quite interesting. Being able to come up with near perfect game mechanics and gameplay of today games is great but soon the market will be flooded with vast amounts of games trying to replicate such things, if the “original” game is successful. Miyamoto’s ideas is good, the game designer needs to have a vast interest in many different things and subjects and have plenty of different skills as it will certainly help the team come up with new and different games, mechanics and gameplay. And that’s what makes Nintendo so amazing and stand out from the rest of the competition. Innovation, no fear to go and try new things, new ideas, think outside the box.
