Yesterday, we shared with you the brand new character design Momotaro Dentetsu: Showa Heisei Reiwa is debuting next year after series character designer Doi left to work on Billion Road.
For the first time, the developers of Momotaro Dentetsu: Showa Heisei Reiwa have finally shared their thoughts about changing Momotaro Dentetsu’s iconic character design after 30 years. We leave you with Momotaro Dentetsu: Showa Heisei Reiwa developer Shoji Masuda’s comments below (translated by NintendoSoup):
“Honestly speaking, since Doi left for a rival company (Bandai Namco Entertainment), we can’t use the same style of character design. Both Doi and ourselves are in an awkward position. Oh, and one more thing, since it’s been 10 to 20 years since Momotaro Dentetsu first debuted, I feel it’s also a good time to freshen things up with (Puyo Puyo illustrator) Takenami-san. So I guess things are still positive for us.”
Masuda also reiterated that the core gameplay of Momotaro Dentetsu remains unchanged, so players don’t have to worry about that.
