The Weekly Famitsu’s interview with the developers of Momotaro Dentetsu: Showa Heisei Reiwa have leaked today, revealing new details on the game’s development.
If you are a Momotaro Dentetsu fan, you might already know longtime character illustrator Takayuki Doi left to work on a new IP called Billion Road. Unfortunately, Doi isn’t returning to work on Momotaro Dentetsu: Showa Heisei Reiwa, and this worried many fans who were afraid the characters of the game will lose their “Momotaro flair”.
Now these worries have died down after it was revealed the new character designer is Hideyuki Takenami, who was the illustrator for several Puyo Puyo games and Super Bomberman games. Series creator Akira Sakuma is confident Takenami will create a style that’s charming and faithful to the Momotaro Dentetsu series.
Other than the illustrations, Sakuma revealed development was 20% complete, Kenichi Maeyamada (Hyadain) will be contributing music to the game, and the new Momotaro Dentetsu game will not break any rules in the series.
