Earlier today, Square Enix revealed some new information about the upcoming Octopath Traveler: Supreme Rulers Of The Continent.
Battle System
Firstly, it has been confirmed that the battle system from the original Octopath Traveler will be returning for this mobile title. This includes random battles, the Break & Boost system, as well as weapon and elemental attack attributes.
Path Actions
Secondly, overworld abilities (Path Actions) will also be returning, though only “Inquire” has been shown off so far. Players will also be able to recruit NPC as ally supporters, though it is presently unclear if this is related to the “Guide” and “Allure” path actions from the original game. Each NPC has unique abilities, so players are advised to choose their allies wisely.
Story Details
Lastly, more information on the game’s story was revealed. As reported previously, players will have to choose between three different paths (Wealth, Power, Glory), but it has been confirmed that they will be able to switch paths once they have made enough progress in the first path chosen.
Further details about two of the main villains were also shared. The “Witch of Greed” Helminia exploits the lower class for profit, selling drugs and recruiting slave labor to work in her fields. Meanwhile, the former “Hero” Titus seeks to create a powerful army at all costs, forcing researchers to concoct experimental medicine to boost his soldiers’ abilities, going as far as to using his own loyal servants as test subjects.
Octopath Traveler: Supreme Rulers Of The Continent will be launching in Japan for IOS and Android devices sometime in 2019.
