Over the past few days, there have been multiple reports from Pokemon GO players that something strange seems to be going on with the Pokemon spawn points in the game.
According to analysis conducted by Pokemon GO subreddit Silph Road, numerous spawn points for Pokemon seem to have vanished or been replaced with new ones in smaller amounts. This trend has been reported both in quiet rural areas and bustling urban zones, with players noticing that they have not been able to catch as many Pokemon on their usual routes as before.
As a result, a number of theories have popped up about how or why this may be occurring. One theory is that the spawn points have not been removed, but spread out over a wider area such that the Pokemon are less clumped together. Another is that Niantic has intentionally reduced the rate of Pokemon spawns for some reason, a feat which they have demonstrated both in Pokemon GO and their other mobile game Harry Potter: Wizards Unite.
Whatever the reason, it looks like avid Pokemon GO players will have to find alternative routes and new best spots to catch Pokemon with these changes in effect. We will be sure to report back should Niantic release any official statements about this adjustment.
