A little over a week before its official release date, it seems NEO: The World Ends with You has been leaked online early.
Unlike most instances of such leaks, it seems the leak this time was caused due to an error by publisher Square Enix. According to reports on ResetEra, some players who pre-ordered the physical version of the game from Square Enix accidentally received a code which allowed them to redeem the full digital version of the game via the eshop.
Currently, it is theorized that the code was only meant to unlock the game’s pre-order bonuses, but a hiccup on Square Enix’s side led to the full game being distributed instead.
At the time of this writing, this error has reportedly been fixed, but those who managed to redeem the codes before then still have access to the full game. Fans who are waiting to play the title on its official release date of 27th July should therefore be on the look out for potential spoilers online.
