Nintendo of America President Reggie Fils-Aime has announced that the popular retro machines, NES Classic Edition and SNES Classic Edition, will not be restocked after the holiday season in 2018.
In an interview with Hollywood Reporter, Reggie said the last chance to pick up a NES Classic Edition and SNES Classic Edition is during the holiday season, as Nintendo has no plans to make more in the Americas. The same is expected to happen in other parts of the world.
Reggie also explained that consumers who wish to enjoy classic Nintendo content may continue to do so with Nintendo Switch Online: Nintendo Entertainment System. He notes that the NES Classic Edition and SNES Classic Edition were released to “bridge the gap” for Nintendo’s retro offerings on Wii U and Nintendo Switch, which is what many fans have suspected.
