New Auto-Save Feature In Animal Crossing: New Horizons Has Cost Mr. Resetti His Job

As if the delay was sad news enough, it seems one of the franchise’s most memorable characters will be out of a job when Animal Crossing: New Horizons rolls around.

The character in question is Mr. Resetti, the irate mole who scolds cheeky Animal Crossing players who “forget” to save in an attempt to do-over the day’s events. Speaking to Mashable, Animal Crossing: New Horizons project lead Aya Kyogoku revealed that due to the title’s new auto-save feature, Mr.Resetti’s services were no longer needed and he was laid off.

“Unfortunately because there’s no necessity to reset the game or reset button on the Switch, Mr. Resetti had a hard time. He was laid off from his position.”

“I think this will be a positive thing for the player because in New Horizons you can stop playing in the middle of your game and it’ll still save.”

That said, Kyogoku added a cryptic hint that this might not be the last we see of Mr. Resetti, who is “currently looking for new work”.

“We also believe that Mr. Resetti is looking for a new job after his layoff. So please look forward to that.”

Animal Crossing: New Horizons is currently scheduled for release on March 20 2020.
