New Pokemon GO Anti-Cheat Measure Fails As Spoofers Find Workaround

This week, Niantic released a new Pokemon GO update that made the final preparations for the upcoming Hoenn region Pokemon.

Alongside the update came an anti-cheat measure that prevented players found with blacklisted apps (such as ones that allowed them to spoof) from entering Pokemon GO. They also encountered the following message:

We have detected software that can interfere with the operation of Pokémon Go on your device. This includes applications that falsify your location. Using unauthorized software that directly impacts Pokémon Go is a violation of Niantic’s Terms of Service and can result in the loss of your account. You will need to uninstall any such applications in order to continue gameplay.

The anti-cheat measure sounded good on paper, but it completely failed in a short span of time. Spoofers found workarounds to the anti-cheat measure in less than an hour. What’s more shocking was that Niantic decided to give up pretty quickly, as the anti-cheat measure was disabled on the very same day.

Do you think Niantic should take more sterner actions against spoofers? Let us know in the comments below.

  • I m getting more and more pissed off with those cheaters.
I guess I will just stop playing Pokémon Go if Niantic simply gave up like that.
