Reports have surfaced about a new Pokemon Scarlet And Violet bug that could potentially destroy your save file.
These reports first appears on the Pokemon Scarlet And Violet subreddit. According to these reports, this bug seems to have been introduced in the latest update patch, and will corrupt the player’s save file such that it becomes unrecognizable to the game. Players who attempt to load a corrupted save file will be met with an in-game message saying “save data not recognized”, and will be unable to proceed to the title screen. This means that affected players will not even be able to load their back-up save data to recover their progress.
Although it has only occurred for a relatively small number of players so far, it is an extremely serious bug. Unfortunately, it is unclear what exactly might be causing the issue. Some players report that it happened after trying to connect to Pokemon GO, while others report that it happened after trying to pre-download the DLC. According to one commenter, players in Japan have also reported it happening to them without doing either of the above, for both digital and physical versions.
At the time of this writing, Nintendo and The Pokemon Company have yet to release an official statement acknowledging the existence of this bug, although some players have said they contacted Nintendo’s support team, who said the company was aware of the issue. Stay tuned for more updates as they come.
