As Nintendo fiddle with the idea of whether to release an N64 Mini console, the original Nintendo 64 became this holidays’ hottest selling retro console according to vintage game retailers.
In an article by Kotaku, vintage game retailers are reporting N64 sales easily surpassing 100 units this holiday season with the main bulk of customers being gamers in their 25-30s that now have a greater disposable income to relive their childhood nostalgia.
Even as the N64 sees such a resurgence in interest, the same could not be same for its same-era competitor the PlayStation though. The N64 was touted as more durable and easier to refurbish than its PS counterpart. plus the wealth of Nintendo games that actually stood the test of time (with local multiplayer games that are great for parties) gave it an edge 20 years later.
