Earlier this morning, Nintendo of America uploaded a trailer promoting cross-platform play in the latest Minecraft Bedrock update for Nintendo Switch.
If you haven’t watched the trailer, you’ll probably think there is nothing special about the video.
While the Bedrock update supports cross play with Xbox One, PC, and smartphones, the video depicts only a Xbox One owner and Nintendo Switch owner playing together.
At different points of the video, one could even see the Xbox One owner playing with an Xbox One controller – something very unusual given that the video was uploaded on Nintendo’s official Youtube channel.
The video’s ending symbolized the friendship and cooperation between Microsoft and Nintendo’s willingness to support cross platform play for their own systems, a subtle jab at Sony’s closed off behavior.
It’s interesting to see Nintendo open to having this video on their Youtube channel… what interesting times we live in!
