Nintendo Announces Nintendo Stars Inc. Company For “Ancillary Use” In Films
Nintendo has announced a new company for advancing its film projects.
The new company is called Nintendo Stars Inc., renamed from WARPSTAR, Inc. WARPSTAR was originally formed back in 2001 together with HAL Laboratory for work with the Kirby series, with its most famous project being the Kirby: Right Back at Ya! anime series. Since the anime’s conclusion WARPSTAR had been working in the background on licensing and supervision of Kirby characters in games, merchandise and other media, but was fully acquired by Nintendo back in April.
Under its new name of Nintendo Stars Inc., the company will now be in charge of “ancillary-use business tied to films that feature Nintendo Intellectual Property (IP)”. In layman’s terms, it will be in charge of managing initiatives tied to Nintendo’s movies, such as live events, licensing, merchandise, and more. Nintendo’s current film franchises include the Super Mario Bros. animated films, as well as the upcoming Legend of Zelda live-action film.
