Nintendo CEO Shares Thoughts On Google’s Stadia

During a press conference in Osaka following Nintendo’s latest financial results briefing, CEO Shuntaro Furukawa briefly discussed his views Google’s potential Switch competitor: The Stadia.

Despite its reveal of briefly causing Nintendo’s stock to crash, Furukawa said that he welcomed Google’s entry into the gaming market, saying that it is important to be receptive of new players and new technologies. However, while he found their idea of a streaming service for games interesting, he did not seem to think that it would change the industry that much.

“We should welcome new players with new tech joining the games industry… Streaming creates a new way to deliver games to customers. And if it can dramatically grow our business, I want to think about it. But for now, I’m not seeing something huge in the future.”

“I think Google’s entry is welcome in the sense that the game industry will evolve as new players enter with new technologies. I do not think that the game business will change dramatically right now, but the technology will keep on coming I think it will be necessary to cope with it as it progresses.”

What do you think of Furukawa’s thoughts on the Stadia? Let us know in the comments below.

Thanks Brandon for the tip.
