Nintendo Data Leak Reveals Details About Early Wiimote Designs, Virtual Console Prototypes, And More

More information has surfaced from the infamous Nintendo “giga-leak”, which resulted in numerous confidential files an documents from the company being shared online, including source code and prototypes from classic Nintendo games.

This latest batch of details includes photos of early designs for the Wiimote and the Virtual Console, along with plans for an iQue version of the Nintendo Gamecube. For those who may not be aware, iQue was Nintendo’s previous partner in bringing their consoles and games to China.

Although the Gamecube ultimately did not make its way to that region, these leaked documents provide some insights into what they had planned, including an odd decision to have it capable of playing CDs and DVDs instead of regular Gamecube discs.
