Cloud gaming and 5G have become hot topics in the video game industry lately, as they have the potential to stream high definition video games in a similar way Netflix disrupted the TV industry.
That is why an investor decided to ask Nintendo President Shuntaro Furukawa how Nintendo is going to react to these technologies at the investor Q&A session for the fiscal year ending March 31, 2019.
First, Furukawa says he does not believe every game is going to be streamed via the cloud. But he also believes that in the next few years we will see more cloud gaming and game streaming services appear.
Nintendo understands what is happening around them, hence as a company, they will react to such technological advances accordingly. Furukawa reiterates that the key reason behind Nintendo’s success is their ability to offer high quality and entertaining software on their own hardware to customers, and they will continue to do so in the future in whatever shape or form.
