Nintendo Files Patent For Predicting Player Controller Inputs

The patent was published on January 23rd 2025 on the US Patent Office site, and appears to be technology that will predict player’s future controller inputs by analyzing their gameplay. A flow chart included in the patent demonstrates how this would work in theory:

Technology like this could have a number of different applications, such as addressing potential input lag during online play. Some believe that this could be a new feature being planned for the Switch 2, although it is not uncommon for Nintendo to patent a concept or feature and then not ultimately not use it at all.
