Nintendo Fixes Major Piracy And Homebrew Loophole With Switch Version 6.2.0

As you know, Nintendo released firmware version 6.2.0 for all Nintendo Switch systems earlier this week.

While the firmware update is described as a stability update to help improve user experience, it has caused massive shock-waves in the Nintendo Switch homebrew and piracy communities. This is because Nintendo has discovered a way to fix a critical hardware flaw with Version 6.2.0, therefore preventing both homebrew users and pirates from accessing their tools through hardware loopholes.

SciresM, an important figure in the homebrew community, said he was “impressed” with Nintendo’s implementation and mentioned it was “very clever of them”. We’ve also learned that CDN downloading, a method used by hackers to discover new games on the Nintendo eShop, is dead as hackers will now have to update their systems in order to access the eShop.

To sum it up, with the introduction of Version 6.2.0, the entire homebrew and piracy communities have come to a halt, until they can find a solution to counter Nintendo’s new weapon.
