Nintendo has published some rather interesting information of the number of fresh graduates it hires every year in Japan.
In 2016, the company brought in 49 graduates from universities and 2 graduates from technical colleges. That has increased to 79 university graduates and 4 technical college graduates in the academic year of 2020.
You can see the full breakdown below:
Year – Number of university graduates for technology related fields – Number of university graduates for office work related fields – Number of technical college graduates for technology related fields – Total graduates hired
2016 – 35 – 14 – 2 – 51
2017 – 42 – 14 – 0 – 56
2018 – 40 – 17 – 2 – 59
2019 – 56 – 23 – 2 – 81
2020 (not yet done) – 57 – 22 – 4 – 83
One potential reason behind the hiring boom could be due to the success of the Nintendo Switch.
