Nintendo has announced they are increasing the price of repairs for the Switch and Switch 2 in Japan.
As detailed in their press release, this price increase will take effect from November 16th 2026 and will apply to any consoles sent for repairs after that date. This is due to the rising costs of components needed for repairs.
Nintendo’s press release also adds that the final price of repairs will vary depending on the problems they find with the affected console, with repairs requiring multiple replacement parts naturally costing more. This is especially in the case of malfunctions caused by water damage, drops, or other modifications.
This news is not particularly surprising, given that the price of the Switch and Switch 2 consoles themselves has increased over the past few months due to the component shortage.
